Amy & Eric's love story reminds us of modern-day Love & Basketball. Yes, we're seriously deeply in love with their engagement story.....and just how they presented their fascination with Chicago within their wedding was well suited for creating their dream day!
How have you met your Fiance?
It would be a surprisingly hot day on March 15, 2012, which was the first day of the NCAA Basketball tournament. Eric was in a bar called Pour House using the guys gambling and watching the games. Later your evening, Amy found the bar together with her co-worker, who so happened to understand Nikhil. Amy was prepared to cheer on her behalf Cyclones and chose to sit across from Eric. She overheard a bet Eric made on Red Lobster and declared it had been the 'dumbest' bet ever. This prompted the 2 to begin talking for the rest of the night which resulted in their first date the next Tuesday. The two happen to be inseparable since.
Tell us concerning the proposal!
Amy is in Minneapolis for any day trip on Friday (09/26), she had come back flight coming to 4:00 which may give her enough time to make their 7:00 dinner reservation. Unfortunately, this Friday was your day of the Aurora Air Tower fire, which meant Amy was stranded in Minneapolis until Sunday. Luckily, Amy chose to rent an automobile and make the 7-hour drive home. During the drive, Amy told Eric she would require a big glass of vino. When she arrived home at 10 PM, Eric immediately said "let's visit the roof, I have a bottle opened." The roof was covered in candles and rose petals, champagne was up for grabs with 2 dozen red roses, and "A Whole New World" was playing without anyone's knowledge. Eric then got recorded on his knee and asked the most crucial question of his life, "Amy, are you going to marry me?" She said yes. They gazed out within the city discussing which of the friends and family they'd tell first. Eric told Amy to show around. To her surprise, Amy saw both families contained in the doorway. The families celebrated until 2:30 AM and continued the celebration through the weekend. The engagement was perfect despite the surprise 7-hour journey and a canceled dinner reservation.
How have you chosen the place for your wedding? What type of venue had you been looking for?
We emailed over 30 different venues throughout the city. We knew we wanted something which represented Chicago and may fit 250+ guests. We visited 5 different locations, whenever we walked within the library we knew it had been perfect for us.
How have you decided on your bridesmaid's dresses? Tell us about your experience at FeelTimes!
As as it happens it takes lots of effort to appear effortless, but luckily FeelTimes made the procedure super easy! FeelTimes selected around 100 different choices, we narrowed it right down to 10 to test, and then selected the best prom dresses for every girl.
I desired to pick out a distinctive dress for every bridesmaid according to their style; FeelTimes made this easy (and fun) to complete.
Who designed your wedding dress? Where have you got it?
My gown was part of the Bridal collection at FeelTimes. My mom and I went shopping on Monday coupled with a blast; it had been such a special moment to talk about between the 2 of us! I would recommend doing wedding gown shopping on Monday; you will get lots of attention because the stores aren't packed and also you won't feel rushed.
What was your preferred part from the day?
It's tough to pick a favorite, but I loved our first dance. We did a sluggish dance to "A Whole New World" that transitioned right into a choreographed dance to "Shut Up and Dance." This would be a great way to kick off the dance party!
What inspired you whenever you were planning your special day?
This sounds cheesy, but it had been our relationship that inspired us through the planning. We love Chicago, it's where we met, it's where we live/work, it's where our everyday life is and we wanted the marriage to represent that. We also love having a good time and wanted our guests (bridesmaids included) to feel at ease and welcomed...we didn't want anyone walking away saying they didn't have some fun.
What advice have you got for other brides?
Cliche and never original, but have some fun! You are going to have to make plenty of decisions, you'll start spending too much time thinking about stuff you didn't know you cared about, but through everything remember to relax and enjoy it. Eat the extra desserts in the caterer tasting, lose an hour or two of sleep to be able to catch up on your TV shows together with your finance, call your mom to speak 30 minutes about signature drinks, do everything and have some fun! The planning process goes fast and your day goes even faster, try to be within the moment and take everything in. It's a great time!
