I tried on 14 dresses trying to find my perfect one

We got married in July 2021 after our original date of July 2020 had to be canceled due to Covid. Our beautiful ceremony was at St Luke’s Church, Weston Under Redcastle, and the reception was at Netley Hall Estate, Dorrington.

We actually meant on a dating site. I think that both of us had nearly given up on meeting anyone, but fate had other plans, and hit it off straight away.

We began dating on November 18, and by August 19 George had proposed! He proposed at home; he started playing the song that we had as our first dance too (Ruelle, I Get to Love You) and popped the question! I of course said yes and couldn’t wait to call my family and tell them the news!

I had a very particular style in mind, something elegant and classy. I knew I wanted a fishtail dress and didn’t want any lace or anything too ‘fancy’ as it just wasn’t me.

I tried on 14 wedding dresses trying to find my perfect one, and when I saw the Jilly Ronald Joyce wedding dress (style 18070) from Muse Bridal in Newport, I knew it was the one.

The gown had everything I wanted and more, it was the exact style I was looking for. The satin material and fishtail finish were so elegant, it was a perfect fit and truly complemented my figure. The added option of having a longer train was a lovely touch, although I didn’t use it because I wanted to show off the amazing detail on the back of the dress. The beading and lace back were surrounded by dangling gems around the shoulders. I knew when I put it on, it was the one and I think my family did as well!

I went shopping with my twin sister, my mum, and my mother-in-law; my older sister who lives in Vietnam was on FaceTime with us throughout the whole process. She was the one who picked the dress for me to try on in the first place! It meant so much to me that I found my perfect dress at Muse as it was where my sister got their dresses from as well.

The whole wedding day couldn’t have gone more to plan if we had tired. The organization of Steph and Harrison at Netley Hall was absolutely incredible, they made our day so special, and we didn’t need to worry about a thing!

The best part for us was waiting for our guests to arrive. We went into a side room, and we got 5 minutes to ourselves as husband and wife with a glass of champagne.

My advice to future bridesmaid dresses is to enjoy the day as much as possible. Take it all in as much as possible because it goes WAY too fast. And above all take 5/10 minutes out of the day to have a drink and a chat with your new husband as you’ll not see each other much after all the photos and guest mingling!
